STRAIGHT TALK 2009

Oxfam Australia’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women’s summit.

Oxfam Australia is pleased to announce that applications for Straight Talk 2009 are now open. Straight Talk is a groundbreaking initiative designed to build relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and women in Federal Parliament. It will be held in Canberra from 25-27 February 2009.

Straight Talk is not a lobbying platform. Instead, it aims to give Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and women in parliament the opportunity to get to know each other, and to explore ways of working together to bring about positive change in the community.

You do not need to have any previous political experience or understanding of Parliament to apply for Straight Talk. At the summit, you will receive appropriate training in a culturally safe environment prior to meeting the women parliamentarians.

Oxfam Australia is seeking applications from women of all ages, family types, education and employment levels.

Applications close 5 January 2009.

If you know someone who could benefit from, or contribute to, this program please forward this email or contact us to nominate her!
