| ISQ ANNOUNCES SHORT LIST FOR EDDIE GILBERT MEDAL |
A start studded line up of Indigenous talent has made the short list for the second annual Indigenous Sport Queensland Awards to be held in Cairns on Friday November 7th.
The much sought after Eddie Gilbert Medal will be announced at the gala function. Last year’s winner of the award Jonathon Thurston has set a high standard for future recipients.
This year’s nominees are a real who’s who of Australian Sport with several sports represented.
Rugby league is prominent as expected, but athletics (Otis Gowa) and basketball (Rohanee Cox and Nathan Jawai) will also feature in the judges considerations.
Two Queensland AFL players in Jarrod Harbrow and Courtney Dempsey have also made their mark in the national AFL competition this year.
