NORTH ON HIS WAY TO BEIJING |
Former Queensland Academy of Sport Scholarship holder, Jade North, has been selected in the Australian Football Team to compete at the Olympics in August. North, 26, will be one of the over-age players allowed to play in the U23 competition.
He was a member of the U17 World Cup Team in 1999 and although Australia lost to Brazil the team remains the only Australian Football team to make a World Cup Grand Final.
North captained the Newcastle Jets to the A-League Championship this year and adds the win to his two other Championships. In 2001/02 he won one with Sydney Olympic and in 2002/03 was a part of the Perth Glory Championship team. In 2002 he was named Most Promising New Talent in Sport at the Deadly Awards.
